om Constand has more than 14 years of experience in sales, marketing, and public relations. He has been with Franco Public Relations Group over four years and oversees the firm's Events Group. In this position, Tom actively counsels clients in specific areas of event marketing, coordination, promotion, on-site management, sponsorships, community relations, and media relations.
Tom's clients include the North American International Auto Show and Charity Preview, Michigan Boating Industries Association, Detroit Metro Convention & Visitors Bureau, Detroit Metro Sports Commission, Renault, Plante & Moran, and Solutia.
Tom served as executive project producer for Detroit's successful Super Bowl bid presentation to the NFL in November of 2000. As such, Tom was part of the core team that conceived the three-act, multimedia presentation depicting Detroit in 2006 and was responsible for concept development, script writing/editing, overall project coordination and production supervision of the winning presentation to the NFL owners in Atlanta.
Prior to his current position within Franco, Tom headed up the firm's Business-to-Business Group and was responsible for the overall management of several accounts, including William M. Mercer, Inc., Dickinson Wright PLLC, and Comerica, Inc.
Before joining Franco, Tom served as president and managing director of the Detroit Sports Commission, a non-profit group dedicated to attracting and supporting professional and amateur sporting events for metro Detroit. During his tenure with the sports commission, Tom was responsible for the provision of key event-support services in the areas of sponsor identification, venue identification, volunteerism, ticket distribution, marketing and media partners for selected events, including the 1994 U.S. Figure Skating Championships, Adidas Magic Roundball Classic, and the NCAA DirecTV Great Eight Basketball Festival. Accordingly, he secured over $675,000 in funding for event sponsorship, event underwriting, and annual operating budget.
Prior to his position with the Detroit Sports Commission, Tom served as national sales manager with the Detroit Metropolitan Convention and Visitors Bureau, attracting meetings and conventions in the automotive and sports markets to metropolitan Detroit. Before joining the Bureau, he served in a similar capacity with The Westin Hotel-Renaissance Center.
Tom is a member of the Detroit Economic Club, the Detroit Athletic Club, the Automotive Press Association, the Public Relations Society of America, and the A.M. Rotary Club of Detroit.
