The Franco team had an event filled November from kicking off Salvation Army’s 2017 Red Kettle season to supporting Veterans at the Stahls’ Fourth Annual Veterans Day Open House and Charity Hockey Game. We spent the month supporting local organizations and surprising people with free coffee through our own Giving Tuesday campaign. See what else we were up to:

Baking Up the Holiday Season

Account Supervisor Andrea and PR Coordinator Harmoni assisted The Salvation Army and Royal Park Hotel for a cooking segment at Fox 2 News. Royal Park Hotel Chef, Mark Slessor and Major Jan Sjogren from The Salvation Army discussed The Salvation Army’s partnership with the Royal Park Hotel for its annual gingerbread unveiling event.

Helping Out This Holiday

The Salvation Army team took part in the unveiling of the Giant Gingerbread Express at the Royal Park Hotel in Rochester. Purchases of desserts and mittens at the event benefited The Salvation Army of Metro Detroit.

It’s the Giant Red Kettle!

Assistant Account Executive Chase helped light The Salvation Army’s giant red kettle in Cadillac Square during the nonprofit’s 2017 Red Kettle kickoff ceremony held in conjunction with the City of Detroit’s tree lighting event. Motown recording artist and Detroit native KEM performed before the annual lighting countdown. The giant red kettle stands 56 feet tall, is 24 feet wide and features 26,000 LED lights!

Vice President Pat and PR Coordinator Harmoni had a blast joining Chase at the 2017 Red Kettle Lighting in Cadillac Square.

Thanking our Teachers

Assistant Account Executive James visited Bruce Collins Elementary School in Sterling Heights to support client Comerica Bank as they delivered gym equipment to a Macomb County teacher. Comerica Bank hosted a “Thanks for Teachers” social media contest this fall, asking the community to nominate deserving teachers that go above and beyond in the classroom. Comerica awarded two other teachers in Wayne and Oakland counties with more than $3,000 in school supplies for their classrooms.

Franco Partakes in Giving Tuesday

At Franco, community is at the core of our culture. Giving back, both through community service and through our work, happens all year long. This month, we wanted to spread some extra kindness so we asked the team what they’d do with $10 to make someone else’s day a little brighter. How would this small token put a smile on someone’s face? How would we inspire someone through this small gesture? Then we passed out the Alexander Hamiltons and the team started to spread kindness. What would you do with a little extra cash to make someone smile? How did you participate on #GivingTuesday?

Assistant Account Executive Rachel decided to “Pay It Forward” by paying for the travelers behind her while driving through a tollbooth on her way to Chicago. Other members across the Franco team all took part in similar actions as well during Giving Tuesday like donating to local charities or surprising people with free coffee.

Keeping Up With PR!

President Tina, Vice President Pat, Senior Account Executive Megan, and Account Director Elizabeth attended the PRSA Detroit Annual Meeting at Little Caesars Arena on Nov. 16. The trio had a chance to network with fellow PR pros and check out the new arena.

Big Things Happening at the Ford House!

Account Director Elizabeth and Senior Account Executive Megan assisted in the media relations effort for the Edsel and Eleanor Ford House groundbreaking of two new buildings -a new administration building and a new visitor center. Congrats Ford House on the expansion!

Steel Shines at Greenbuild

Senior Account Executive Dan Horn traveled to Boston in November with the SMDI Construction team, supporting SMDI with media relations and gathered video testimonials during the 2017 Greenbuild Conference.

Power Play for Heroes 2017

Senior Account Executive Erica and Assistant Account Executive Rachel attended Power Play for Heroes 2017 presented by client STAHLS’ on Veterans Day weekend. The weekend-long fundraiser included the annual Stahls’ Automotive Foundation Veterans Day Open House and the Team STAHLS’ vs. Detroit Red Wings alumni game. All donations made across the weekend benefited the Guardian Angels Medical Service Dogs. Pictured is U.S. Marine Corps Veteran Mike Ronan, his service dog, Julie and his fiancée Olivia. Mike received his service dog from the organization, which pairs veterans who suffer from PTSD, traumatic brain injuries, physical injuries and more with service dogs.
