Summer welcomes sunshine and warm weather, but at Franco, summer also welcomes event season. From the 2018 PwC Grand Prixmiere, to Hour Detroit’s Best of Detroit party, our team had a blast this June! Franco continues to live by the #DetroitInspiresMe movement with all the amazing things progressing in the city, and we are so happy to be a part of the action. This month we watched as the future changed with the purchase of the Michigan Central Station, and we hosted major Detroit influencers – sharing our love and passion for the city.

Franco Publicist James Youness executed a “tick dragging” segment with WDIV’s Dr. McGeorge and client Rose Pest Solutions’ manager of education and training Mark Vanderwerp. The group visited a wooded backyard of a Bloomfield home to look for ticks and teach WDIV’s audience ways to check for ticks in their own yard and campsites throughout the summer.

Hit the Town for Hour Magazine’s Best of Detroit Party

Our team had a great time working with Franco client Hour Detroit, promoting and attending their Best of Detroit Party at Eastern Market. The party featured more than 20 of the area’s top restaurants and bars and was hosted by WDIV Local 4 News’ Evrod Cassimy. Hour Detroit’s Best of Detroit issue debuts each June, featuring metro Detroit’s most legendary restaurants, salons, specialty stores and more, as voted on by readers. The annual Best of Detroit party celebrates these winners at the biggest bash of the summer – and our team had a blast!

Hosted Crain’s Detroit Managing Editor, Michael Lee

Franco was lucky enough to sit down with Michael Lee as he shared his personal experiences in journalism, and with Crain’s Detroit Business. An average day as managing editor for Crain’s Detroit is jam-packed for Lee, beginning with streams of news as soon as he enters the office. Managing reporters and stories, editing news and creating newsletters are also average tasks for Lee – although he explains that Detroit’s success brings new experiences and opportunities for stories every single day.

Rocked out with Your Generation on WJBK Fox 2

Franco Account Supervisor Andrea Kenski hung out with the world’s finest tribute band, Your Generation, at WJBK Fox 2. Ryan Ermanni was an honorary member of the band as he introduced the on-air musical performance promoting Hour Detroit’s 13th annual Best of Detroit party.

Promoted Barley, BBQ & Beats with Hospice of Michigan

The Hospice of Michigan account team was busy this month promoting the inaugural Barley, BBQ & Beats in Novi. As part of the publicity efforts, we swung by the WXYZ studio with CAYA Smokehouse and WJBK Fox 2 with country rock band, Corey Dakota and the Rippers.

Woods also spoke with our team about her amazing story – and her goal to cover all there is to know about the amazing story of Detroit.

Attended the Salvation Army ARC store’s grand opening

Our team had a great time attending the Salvation Army ARC store’s grand opening at 5858 Vernor Hwy. in Mexicantown on June 16. This was the first Salvation Army store opening in the city of Detroit in over a decade. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was preceded with dancing from Ballet Folklorico Moyocoyani Izel, a Mexican folk dance group from the area.

Had all hands on deck for the 2018 PwC Grand Prixmiere

After months of planning by Franco Senior Vice President Tina Benvenuti Sullivan, Senior Account Executive Erica Harmon, and Account Executive Rachel Burnard our team spent the night on Belle Isle, alongside 530 guests, for the 2018 PwC Grand Prixmiere, presented by Chevrolet. The fundraiser raised approximately $1 million for the Belle Isle Conservancy in its fifth year on the island.

From general event planning, to operational logistics and on-site support, the Franco team was all hands-on deck for the fundraising event chaired by Margaret and Michael Simcoe, vice president of global design at General Motors.

June was jam packed with amazing events at Franco, and the summer is just getting started. Check back in July to see what we’re up to!
